10 April--Don't mean to be political, but . . .

Today, Jamie stumbled upon a very disturbing blog. It relays the story of Professor Walter F. Murphy, emeritus of Princeton University. Upon arriving at the airport on his way to attend an academic conference, he was detained and told he could not board. After a brief conversation with the check-in clerk, he learned he was denied because he had given a speech critical of George W. Bush and was subsequently added to a "terrorist watch list."

Professor Murphy is a hero of the Korean War.

George W. Bush dodged the draft.

Really starting to get stupid around here. One of my good friends is half Texan half Jordanian, and every time she flies she gets the special treatment.

In other fun news from home, another friend just forwarded me a story about a high school in Georgia that's having its first racially integrated prom this year. Speechless on all fronts.

What's more, the Treasure Dept's got a list of names 250 pages long according to this article. Be prepared for a shock if you want to buy a house, and your name so much as sounds like a name on the list.
